I called TREC about a month ago. He said the case was still under review. He said peoplethat files with them would be notified of the outcome. Should be pretty cut and dry case in my opinion!

Nope ... there's way more than that too. He always says how he gives 30 percent and more of his income to the church (which cleans it from income tax) but, what people don't see is that the church pays for his gas, his truck, his wife's car, going out to eat, clothes, etc ... It would be easy to give that much when everything else has been given to you, wouldn't it? Now THATS not what I call 'EQUAL SACRIFICE'!

i didn't say that i had it i said that i have seen it. i have given alot of money to gene in the past. much of it was supposed to be for things that were advertised and never delivered. when i saw the expenditures my jaw hit the floor with the wastefulness. if everybody was given a complete detailed list of expenditures, or at least a group of elders nominated and voted on by THE PEOPLE of the church then there would be no question now, would there? the management team is a joke. wake up and open your eyes - ask for a complete financial disclosure. To be a member of the evangelical council for financial accountability it is a strict guideline. the gathering is NOT a member of ecfa .... draw your own conclusions but please do so from an informed perspective.

Here's a new post for ya. He just raised tens of thousands of dollars (maybe even hundreds) under the deceptive statement of helping orphans and building a church in haiti. i would bet that a full financial disclosure would show that all of the money was given to the lords child which is used as a slush fund to be used however gene wants .... i gave at a chest of joash two years ago that was supposd to be used to build the retreat center - where did that money end up?

The chest of joash just took place at the gathering. they say that all the money goes to 500 orphans and a church in haiti. i would ask to see it. giving the moeny to the lords child for them to 'take care' of 500 orphans is not the same thing. many statements made from the stage are meant to be deceptive on purpose. why has nobody asked for full financial disclosure? why did they only respond with aggresive threats about suing the people that had seen what they had done?

Again, some people taking up for the Vicks who know nothing about what they did to so many people. I am a cabin owner who was with Fontaine cabin rental. I NEVER MET THE VICKS. I think they were too busy to talk to the "little people" who they took rental income from. I talked to another cabin owner (with Fontaine) and their 3 cabins were with Fontaine for over 3 years and they had never met Libby Vick. My only contact was the reps who answered the phone in the office. I did not lose any money but so many renters lost their advance deposits they paid to the Vicks. I also sent many docu*ents to TREC regarding the Vicks when they closed the doors. How in the world can anybody say "we" are all making this up and starting rumors? I am so ashamed that I was ever tied to this rental company and Libby Vick. I feel bad for everyone who has lost their money by going with a company that was reputable MANY MANY years ago when the Fontaines owned it.

Deer Crest in listed in the Pioneer Rental portfolio of cabins. Cajun Hideaway and Cloud Dancer's owners both left the care of Libby Vick so I doubt if they would go back for more of the same crap that Libby is so good at giving out. (for instance, charging 1/2 hour labor to the owner for a drive-by to make sure a limb is NOT lying on the roof)

The messages aren't 'prosperity' like you see on the tv shows but it's not far from it. He's very good at making you believe you are doing The Lord's work but just because he backs his claims with one sentence from The Bible does not mean that his messages are Biblical .... I heard recently that all of this year's chest of joash is going to help orphans. I say prove it. Show where each exact penny goes directly to an orphan. He will probably give all of the money to the lord's child citing that it is the same thing but it's not. The finances are NOT legit and the gathering does NOT have any oversight in the spending by the congregation.

Well~ I'm the person who sued, the company Fontaine Cabins was in a sub-name Trees to Green LLC- Roberts name was not on anything to do with the business, Libbys was. But the only thing I could sue under the law was the Trees to Green- the only property they left under that name was the office- they let that go into foreclosure- so there was nothing to go after. Other properties that were under that Trees to Green were moved (name change) last Jan. to hide those from legal action. It is hard to understand that you can win a lawsuit but never be paid- but it's all about who's name things are in. He knew how to protect himself under the law. If something had been in the name of Trees to Green, then you could force them to sell that if they did not pay us. Because of the sub-company we could not sue them as R. & L. Vick- So we have a win and a were awarded three times the amount they stole under the TN consumer protection act, but we'll never see a dime no matter what they have personally. Of course they'll never put any property in the name of Trees to Green again- if they did we could get paid- but that is the only way. The attorney general is the only one who can take criminal action- but without VOTERS in his district requesting this of him- that won't happen either.

Don't give those words another thought everyone! As we all know from checking in over the years, we did not even know the Vicks. My wife and I did not even know when Anne Fontaine changed into Robert Vick. In all those years, we were never greeted by Robert or Libby Vick- let alone thanked for our repeat business to their company. Get your key from an check in lady and head to your cabin. We kept coming back because we loved two cabins on their rental program-not because we had fond memories of time spent with the Vicks. If that person was a renter and "spent time" with the Vicks they were also friends. Which explains the reason they think what they did was somehow justified. Think of it this way, think of what they stole from us without even a telephone call- What kind of people are they right? So just think of the lies they tell their friends and family to make it appear that they are the ones who have been wronged. There are a lot of a**holes in the world, who wants to believe your own family or friends fall into that clas*. If you've been to TN lately, you know what has happened to their reputation- and that is with people who have know them for years! Feel sorry for them(the posters defending the Vicks), they are being taken too- not financially but emotionally. Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

As did we all!!! How do you think we lost money- we'd been staying with them for years too. We are not happy their out of business- we paid our money and just wanted to stay in our cabins. I also sent business their way, because I loved the cabin! You check in and your on your own- it's not as if we got to know the Vicks by staying there often. I knew the office girls- maybe, but not the owners. We did have three cabins we loved over the years that we had reservations for that we had to change "because they left the rental program" but after this happened- I found them on other cabin companies sites. I never questioned it before, but for some reason they left Fontaines and went with another company. When that happened before, I use to think the owners retired and moved into them- I guess there was more to it. One thing I'm thankful for, was I also was not one of the people who showed up to a closed office with no where to go. The world can be very forgiving when asked. Remember how everyone said the best move for Hugh Grant was to go on tv and face the music- he had no backlash for that whole thing b/c he showed he was human. People who admit guilt have an easier time. Some people only see their little bubble and don't think they do any wrong, or affect anyone else. We may not ever know how- but what comes around goes around, I just hope when it comes around to them, they KNOW why and don't think- poor me what have I ever done? Don't overact anyone- I only wish them exactly what they've done- not aids or something evil- just money to be stolen, that should have been in an escrow account or something similar

I only come on here now and again to see if anyone has any advice on how to get my money back or to see if anyone has had any success with them or gotten a check from the Vicks as one letter in June stated we would get- it is so upsetting to read people defend them. It actually really hurts. We are not just one single cabin renter angry at a company. Last year when my husband and I were about to walk into the office, a couple with a baby came out and were so angry and wanted their money back- something about the cabin not being safe for their child. The husband was so angry at Fontaines I was a little scared. They were not getting a refund. We listened, but still checked in and made reservations for 2010 before we left- when one person is angry you wonder, but when it's hundreds with the same issue- come on! I send best wishes to all those in this economy still holding out hope for a refund. xoxo

We had stayed with Fontaine Cabins for much longer than four years, over 10. I'd been renting from Fontaines prior to the Vicks ownership. I've sent 4 people from my state to them and told countless others to stay with them. In fact I found out this happened because a co-worker went to reserve for the first time, upon my recommendation, with them and told me what the website stated. I live in Michigan and do not own a cabin there, much less a cabin company. For the past years we stayed in Heart's Delight- wish I owned that cabin! And others prior to that one. Perhaps you think I'm not serious in my offer to send you all of my paperwork- I am. You don't want to know the truth do you? So all of us who lost money are not "good people"~ only those who hold my $2,700 are good people. I guess you know me and somehow feel I must had had this coming to me. How is it possible that you feel renting from them for four years has given you insight to their moral compas*? They never returned a telephone call or email- or responded to my lawyer-no matter what is happening how is that o.k.? And your going to boycott the cabin companies that GAVE my family a place to stay when we would not have been able to go on vacation. Well, you better boycott all cabin companies then- because I can as*ure you that almost everyone of them offered us a free cabin. Including the ones you most likely stay with. I just accepted the first two offers that came that fit our needs. Mr. Voit (editor of the Mt. Press) and myself both received many, many offers after the newspaper article ran. Why do you only wish best of luck to the Vicks? I was a loyal customer for years, gave them new business and a telephone call would have been nice. You either did not have a reservation for this time and did not lose money or you have a personal relationship where he refunded your money to you and your so grateful to him for choosing you out of hundreds of us you defend his actions toward others. It really does not matter why they closed, a telephone call is not a high expectation- in fact if I had not sent my friend to their website- I would have been one of the ones who showed up to a note on the door. We had our reservation and would have never checked the site, because of having been there so many times before- we could drive there with our eyes closed. The person who hired a lawyer and WON in a court of law will never get her money because they moved property around. And even though Robert called some people and cabin owners(acting as the owner) he put everything in Libby's name and Trees To Green LLC only the rental office they let go. So exactly what is the solution to get money back if you can't even do so with a law suit? How should their family feel about this site? You tell me- Proud of their actions! Their actions created this site. How about the families who did not get their vacations this year? So really- what is the solution to getting my money back? If it's so simple please share... Maybe the person asking if they were back from Roberts daddy house wanted to serve them with a summons. Most of us who lost money don't live in Cobbly Nob. Now the church is having problems making payments on their mortgage.... Don't you think if God WAS in that church He would pay the bills on time? But then again, the bible says that who*ver borrows becomes a slave to the lender. I am sure He wanted that for His church.

We were with the church in the very beginning--back when they were meeting at the civic center. It's been Gene's church from the beginning and it will be that way until the end. Who*ver crosses him, will be fired and suddenly gone without a word spoken about it. And by the way, Tom, the Bible says to speak the truth in love. Truth has been spoken here and I mean no harm. I would like to see Gene's heart and attitude change, but sounds to me like nothing has changed in the last 10 yrs from what these people are saying. Such a shame....

Yeah~ everyone has moved on and taken their losses. They are in CA. And everything to do with Fontaines' was in an LLC- The only property that was also in that same name has been foreclosed on ( the Fontaine office). You can't get a dime from them. Robert hid everything very well. Starting last Jan. he started putting homes in other names. They got away with it- sad but true. The only hope is the district attorney, but if more people don't call, that too will be swept under the rug. And maybe TREC will do something?

for those of you that are interested about the 90 yr old lady she actually stayed at Cobbly Nob Rentals. They cut her a great deal due to the situation. They have told everyone about their stay with Cobbly Nob Rentals. I checked out their website the cabin they stayed in was one called Campbell's Station. That was a NICE cabin. I am hoping to stay their soon myself.

He totally mistreats his employees. They're all brainwashed and have to answer the phone every time he calls no matter what or they'll be in trouble. Once, one of the employee's wife had a baby and there were serious complications. Somebody near to the family said 'I hope Gene gives you some time off to be with your family'. Well, when ole Gene heard about that he had the staff member who had just been through the ordeal contact the person and tell them not to tell that to anybody!!! Now THAT'S compas*ion!!

We have been going to the Gathering and find the church to be a wonderful place where people are active in their worship and outreach to the world. Pastor Wolfenburger is one of the finest teacher/preachers I have ever heard. I am a retired minister from a church of over 4,000. The persons on this website that are so critical need to examine thier real motives and stop the hate comments. If a pastor is wrong God will change him or remove him. Let God handle this and you will never have to answer to God for your resentment. Tho Gathering is a church that loves people and reaches out to the community and world. They have a group they are answerable to for expenditures and decissions and thier structure is biblical. We are prou of our membership and the work the Gathering is doing. If you have a concerna about the negative comments on this site come and visit and let the spirit guide your own decission..We love you all and hope to meet you...tom weekley

Just ask to see a detailed disclosure of their financials. All non profits that are certificied with ECFA will gladly do so as it is required to be certified. Sure, the building was paid for with church money - no one is arguing that. The questions are these ... who approves the spending? who audits the spending? Is the spending and salary information disclosed?

Wow...it is amazing how the person who was so defensive has quieted their voice on this site. I guess you cannot refute actual facts and the decision of the court. I am so glad that at least one person has filed suit. I hope others follow suit. I am in contact with one of the VICKtims and I am trying to convince them to follow suit. (I bet that is a pun!!!)
